The disconnect here is massive. Consumers aren't asking for generative AI features on their pocket devices—they're asking for better battery life, stronger glass, and lower prices. Instead, tech giants are forcing heavy, battery-draining AI models onto phone silicon to justify keeping flagship price points at $1,200+. They turn those AI assistants off, silence the pop-up suggestions, and use the exact same four apps they've been using since 2020.
