Tech-riffs: The Delicate Dance of Tariffs and Tech

I know, I know. You hear about tariffs 25/8, me too. But it’s hard not to discuss this. However, I’ll make it brief, very brief.

I don’t want to talk global politics, and even if I did, I am nowhere near knowledgable enough to have an opinion. However, tariffs shape the tech world. We need China and China needs us. We make our phones and earbuds and speakers and, I don’t know, flashlights over there. It feels like anything made was made in China. These tariffs make everything a lot more complicated, especially because the tech corporations that the government wants to move over to the United States simply won’t. As I am a sucky journalist, I have no citation or even a person to quote here, but someone said that the tariffs would need to be 1400% in order that the companies start trying to move over to the United States for manufacturing. So anyway, tech is tied into tariffs because tech is a global industry and is too complicated to say that the United States has to make everything themselves. CaterPCs (you can search him on any social media) talks about these tariffs, and has gotten pushback for being too political, but as his content is all about tech, it would be absurd to not talk about the effect of these tariffs on technology. I don’t really feel the effects of the tariffs (I’m still a teen…), but I’m sure its hurting some pockets and purses.

Stay financially responsible out there guys. God bless!
